Sewing Center Update – November 2008 |
| Friday, December 19, 2008 |
The Sewing Center in Naigobya continues to grow and move forward. They are currently teaching full classrooms of students. They are also partnering with the nearby village of Kyabazala to assist them in training the teachers in their sewing classes which will start in the next several months.
Meet the some of the current students at the Naigobya Sewing Training Center.
During our recent visit, each student introduced themselves and we were able to hear many of their stories. Most are young women 17 to 19 years of age. Their families cannot afford to send them to a secondary or college education. They attend the sewing classes for a low-tuition and are being empowered with an income generating skill. Several we talked with have a plan for buying their own sewing machines and starting a business upon graduating from the training. They are all truly remarkable young women who are taking control of their future.
